This unit specifies the skills and knowledge required to operate a forklift truck safely.
Forklift truck means a powered industrial truck equipped with lifting media made up of a mast and an elevating load carriage to which is attached a pair of fork arms or other arms that can be raised 900 mm or more above the ground, but does not include a pedestrian-operated truck or a pallet truck.
A person performing this work in NSW is required to hold a High Risk Work (HRW) licence issued by SafeWork NSW for the forklift type.
Joblink Plus Training is approved by SafeWork NSW to conduct HRW training and assessment for forklift truck (class LF).
No entry requirements or pre-requisites apply to the unit of competency, however in order to obtain a SafeWork NSW High Risk Work licence, students must:
Provided you have enrolled ahead of your class date, you will receive your learning materials at least two weeks prior to the commencement of the course. You will be required to study the materials ready to undertake an Underpinning Knowledge Assessment (UPK) at the commencement of the first day of training.
This Assessment will form part of your overall theory assessment for the unit of competency.
On successful completion of this course you will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for the nationally recognised unit of competency completed as part of the course.
Additionally, where you have passed the SafeWork NSW National Assessment Instrument, you will be issued with a Notice of Competency directly by the Accredited Assessor. You must take this notice to Australia Post along with 100 Point of Identification to have your High Risk Work (HRW) License processed.
Please note: It is possible to successfully complete the unit of competency, and not pass the SafeWork NSW National Assessment Instrument. In these instances, you should discuss re-assessment opportunities with the Accredited Assessor who will liaise with Joblink Plus Training to schedule a re-assessment. TLILIC0003 Licence to operate a forklift truck
The delivery of this course will cover the following elements:
18 hours over 3 days
Days 1 & 2 are training and practical observation conducted by Trainer and Assessor for the unit of competency. Students must successfully complete Days 1 & 2 and be deemed Competent in the unit to proceed to SafeWork NSW Assessment.
Day 3 comprises the SafeWork NSW Assessment conducted by a SafeWork NSW Accredited Assessor.
Formal assessment will be conducted in order to assess individual’s competency regarding the required skills and knowledge within the unit of competency.
