This qualification covers work activities undertaken by an equine dental service provider who is engaged or employed to provide day-to-day dental care and treatment services for routine dental correction and oral care for equines. Equine dental service providers must make referrals to registered veterinarians for work outside of their professional scope of practice.
Pathways into the qualification
This qualification may be accessed by direct entry. However, it is a Joblink Plus Training policy that applicants to this qualification
have either previous qualification at Certificate II level or higher in a relevant equine or animal care and management qualification, or
equivalent experience.
Licensing considerations
There are no specific licences that relate to this qualification.
Packaging Rules
To achieve this qualification, competency must be demonstrated in 18 units of competency:
Students also need to complete 120 hours of work placement minimum, during which they perform the tasks detailed in the assessment requirements of the units if competency.
Attendance at 4.5 x 10 day practical skills blocks over 18 months (9 hours per day) with option to attend additional weekend practical workshops to meet the requirement of 120 hours in logbook hours and prepare for final assessment.
Learners are required to complete self-paced study of theory components and complete of theory assessments between each practical block.
Location
Blocks include training and assessment sessions held at locations in Tamworth, New South Wales.
Learners are responsible for their own transport and accommodation. The Course Coordinator can assist with arrangements and provide
further advice.
