Hospitality students in Bathurst have been getting on the job experience with Bathurst Panthers, assisting with catering for multiple events in the lead up to Christmas – one function was for 270 people!

Trainer Jonathan says, "It’s invaluable for these guys to be exposed to a real world catering and events environment. They get to experience the pressure, the team work and all the customer service skills come into play as well”.

“They are taking it in their stride and the feedback has been positive. The hospitality world can be tough going. This group I’m training have heaps of resilience and are getting on with things despite some challenging circumstances. Any business would be lucky to have them.”

At Bathurst Panthers the students have been involved in all aspects of hospitality, bringing their Certificate III studies to life. They have assisted with set-up and pack-down, service and food preparation. As a bonus, they get to demonstrate their skills to a major employer in Bathurst, and develop valuable contacts with people in the industry. All of this increases their work readiness, and means the opportunity to use their nationally recognised qualification is just around the corner.

Today (December 2, 2016), 12 students graduated from their Certificate III in Individual Support course in Tamworth. All that started the course 20 weeks ago proudly received their Certificate from their trainer Hannah in a small ceremony at Tamworth Joblink Plus. The graduates celebrated with family and friends who were in attendance along with staff from Joblink Plus Training.

The course involved a work experience component where all students spent some time working in local disability and aged care organisations. From this, students gained great practical skills and experience to complement all the great work they did in the classroom with their trainer Hannah.

9 of the 12 graduates have secured full-time work as a result of the course! 1 graduate has a job interview next week and the other 2 students will continue study.

The course trainer Hannah was full of praise for this group of students, saying "I like to judge the success of my courses not only by employment, which has it's own value, but by the personal growth of my students and the journey we have taken together, this is the most rewarding part of the course. This course has been a fantastic journey for us all and I wish all these wonderful people all the best for the future."

Joblink Plus Training is an enterprise of Joblink Plus and was established in 2008. Since then, all Joblink Plus Training content has been hosted on the Joblink Plus site. As Training has grown there has been a need for an independent website to serve people interested specifically in training.

Recently Joblink Plus Training expanded into the Central West Region and with it came more courses and more demand for training. We offer many short courses, full qualifications and unaccredited training which demanded a stand alone website. As we start to provide more and more fee-for-service training we recognised a need for a website to provide, students, employers, and staff with relevant Training information and updates.

This step emphasizes the capacity and capability of Joblink Plus Training's increased scope, expansion and progressive involvement in meeting the training needs of both students and industry.
